Living in limbo – “waiting room of life” – is where I sit today.

Waiting rooms at the best of times are generally not where any of us choose to spend much time.  We as a couple have passed the 2 year mark.  To say the least it’s “old” and we both feel it’s time to move on.  My husband and I are waiting for a full-time assignment as an Associate Pastor and wife.  It has been a long time in coming – is God in the “waiting room”?

Sometimes it feels like He’s not – but even when we can’t “feel” Him we know He’s there.  He gives us glimpses here and there.  Right now we live in a beautiful home a few blocks from 2 of our kids and 4 of our grandchildren.  What a blessing it has been to “hang out” with them.

Ephesians 5:16 has been my summer ’08 verse – quoting “…making the most of every opportunity”.  So it’s been my theme to look and live “in” the waiting room trying to make the most of this opportunity.

Jim & I have had a crazy fall with packing and moving our stuff into storage on September 22, leaving for Cuba on September 24th returning on October 9th , moving to St. Albert, AB on October 13th and beginning a new ministry at Gateway Alliance Church (Edmonton) as Interim Pastor and wife.

What a privilege it was for me to train women in leadership in Cuba. It was my first experience speaking through a translator – Alice was fluent in English and gracious towards me. After visiting homes and churches destroyed by hurricane Ike there was one word that kept coming to me about the people affected – resilience. There faith in Christ did not waver and they were so grateful to us for coming and served us with joy by sharing what they had. They were so thankful for the teaching and treasured all the resources we left with them. It has affected my lifestyle – “stuff” just doesn’t seem so important and my heart is filled with gratitude for my country Canada and the freedoms I enjoy.
